I have to confess how easily amused I am by the little things. I laugh everytime I hear Garmin pronounce "Socastee" in foreign languages. It sounds equally as silly in Portugeuse as it does in Danish.
It's not that I need a navigation system to get around a town where I've lived for thirty years. I've been using my driving time to learn different dialects so I can speak better gibberish while performing with Carolina Improv Company. We play a game called Foreign Movie which requires us to "speak" a language suggested by the audience. Being able to do that has been a challenge for me. But then I recalled when we first got Garmin. We would set the language to Mandarin then set a location opposite of our destination and listen as Garmin cursed us and tried to reroute us. It was fun on a budget at it's finest.
Inspiration - I found my short cut to gibberish! I preloaded settings for Radio City Music Hall, Disneyworld and Graceland and now pick one and a different language. It looks about as goofy as singing when you're alone in the car or talking on a blue tooth headset so the fear of looking crazy is gone. And I can say "recalculating" in 4 languages plus 3 English dialects.
I'm hoping the next Garmin update will include Klingon.
I like the Australian guy, and how he pronounces Dick Pond Road when I'm down your way (DICKpon Rode). Good idea for learning another language, been wanting to learn the Spanish and thanks to you, I have a great new way to practice! {hugs Lika!}
