Technological Love Affair

I love my Samsung Android.  I've only had it for a couple of months but it feels like we have been together forever.  And it has almost made me forget my first love, a Motorola Startac flip phone that was dark grey and vaguely resembled a Star Trek communicator from the original TV series.

Nothing brings out my inner geek faster than free apps from the Android Market (unless it's an in depth conversation about the death of Batman and how that is going to be resolved in future issues but I digress).  My most recent download is the Shake Weight.  Yes, that Shake Weight - the one featured in a couple of  questionable commercials and lots of youtube parodies. The 'droid version works the same as the real one, is just as much fun and is much easier on the shoulders.  My clunky little Startac with the antenna pointing slightly to the left could never compete. I couldn't even change its ring tone.

My first big find in the 'droid Market was the Bic Concert Lighter.  I am now prepared at all times for "Freebird" to break out, as long as I haven't drained the battery checking Facebook (which is a story for another time).  I have downloaded a coin flip app, a flashlight (actually very useful) and the periodic table of elements.  Not that I need that reference frequently but I do play team trivia and may even use it one day to study.

Now I'm nostalgic for my old Startac so perhaps I will search the 'droid Market for a Motorola ringtone app and hope my Samsung doesn't blow up when I download it.

  2. What Petra? No comment that MY blogs entertain you? LOL!

Ok Lynne, one question, do you still own your original brick phone? Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. OMG... you know of the faked death of Batman and his battle back through time. The love affair continues ;)

  4. Thanks Petra! And Gina, sadly I gave up the Startac for a newer, sleeker model whose face I no longer recall. But it is true that you always remember your first love. And to the good dr., I am aware of the faked death although I try not to dwell on the time travel aspect because that really messes with my brain.
